ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

Be a role model for safety. - Promote a zero-injury safety culture and find ways to continuously improve safety culture in the workplace.

  • Stop any observed work activities or conditions that are dangerous, illegal, or against company policy.
  • Identify safety issues in the workplace and assume responsibility to take immediate action to correct or immediately escalate to appropriate level for resolution.
  • Closely collaborate with all warehouse functions to drive safety improvements within the operation including effective use of risk and engagement tools
  • Model personal and organizational leadership to drive team engagement in all aspects of daily execution and improvements.
  • Supervise a crew of up to 30-40 employees

Effectively managing all distribution operations, including warehousing, inventory control, transportation, raw material procurement, supplier management, quality, and customer service.

Ensuring all operating goals are met, including cost, safety, schedule conformance, shipping accuracy, inventory accuracy, supply levels, customer service, etc.

Ensuring the cost-effective optimization and utilization of warehouse space, including warehouse layouts and space allocation.

Overseeing the shipping functions, including scheduling, dispatching, fleet management, and on-time delivery.

Ensuring accurate inventory control and planning.

Managing a team of thirty employees, including hiring, workforce planning and scheduling, employee relations, and employee development.

Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment.

Using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to effectively manage the functions, control costs, and enhance efficiency.

Participating, as needed, in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Able to be perceptive and have a strong awareness of surroundings to identify potential risks and communicate these risks to employees
  • Successful track record of achieving operational goals
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and implementation of process improvement methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting and implementing organization development and human resources initiatives
  • Business knowledge of budget, asset, and cost structure management
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office
  • Ability and willingness to work core hours to support the needs of different shifts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years of supervision/management experience in a warehouse environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a complex environment, drive performance, meet goals and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Five or more year’s distribution management experience in a multi-shift environment.
  • Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), such as M3, EXE, PKMS, or other top-tier software system.
  • Strong management and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage a diverse group of employees and build a team culture. 
  • Experience managing operating costs and budgets. 
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Strong communications skills. 
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening
  • Positive and Verifiable Work History
  • Must follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed
