Job Description
Plans, provides, and implements art within the healthcare setting. Utilizes a variety of mediums to allow for expressive and creative experiences for patients and families in a safe and therapeutic setting.
Experience
* 1 year of experience in teaching/providing art experiences to children
* Experience with children in a group setting
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in special needs/hospitalized children
* Computer skills
Education
* Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Art Therapy, or related field
Certification Summary
* Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Must be able to work under deadlines, with multiple tasks, and with individuals representing all levels within the organization
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate well in person, in writing, and on the phone
* Demonstrated experience with pediatric age-appropriate treatment and practice
* Interpersonal skills
Job Responsibilities
* Facilitates group and individual art experiences, focusing on creativity and therapeutic opportunities.
* Encourages ongoing participation of long-term patients with multipart activities tailored to individual interests and therapeutic needs as referred by a Child Life specialist.
* Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for individual and group art experiences.
* Supervises Art Program volunteers.
* May assist Child Life specialists with legacy-building and family support at end of life.
* May assist and collaborate with the Foundation, Marketing and Public Relations in fundraising events and donor relations/activities.
