ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Albany, NY office is seeking a Highway Design Engineer to support our growing transportation practice. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public and private projects with exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery approach. Responsibilities

• Producing and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase
• Pre-design project planning
• Design of highways and roads including development of geometric layout, grading and drainage
• Managing the development of technical design and specification documents

Skills and Attributes

• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Traffic signal design experience a plus
• Open Roads and/or Civil3D
• Stormwater analysis
• Concept through final design plan development

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required
• Minimum of 1-3 years design engineering experience
• Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
• Experience with/exposure to NYSDOT and municipal roadway improvement projects is preferred
• EIT preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Albany, NY is $69,000-$76,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
