**Job Title: Utility Pipe Layer**
**Location: Charlotte, NC**
**Salary Range: $19 - $28 per hour**
**Responsibilities:**
1. Pipe Installation: Lay and install various types of utility pipes, including sewer, water, and drainage pipes, according to project specifications and blueprints.
2. Excavation: Excavate trenches and prepare the ground for pipe installation using appropriate machinery and tools.
3. Alignment: Ensure proper alignment and grade of pipes during installation to meet project requirements and prevent future issues.
4. Pipe Connections: Join pipes together using appropriate techniques such as gluing, or sealing to create a watertight and secure connection.
5. Backfilling: Backfill trenches and compact soil around pipes to provide stability and support to the installed infrastructure.
6. Quality Control: Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure adherence to safety standards, quality guidelines, and project specifications.
7. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other construction team members, including equipment operators, supervisors, and laborers, to efficiently complete tasks and achieve project goals.
9. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others on the construction site.
**Qualifications:**
- Previous experience in utility pipe laying and construction preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
- Proficiency in operating excavation equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.
- Strong understanding of pipe materials, sizes, and installation techniques.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
