From the beginning, Temple's history has been rooted in rail. The railroad's entry into our community, over a century ago, helped link our agriculture base in the markets. Today, Amtrak, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and Union Pacific all touch Temple and continue to have a significant impact on our commerce and on our economy. With the advent of the automobile and the subsequent construction of the Interstate Highway System, Temple diversified its transportation roots with Interstate 35. With over 100,000 vehicles a day traveling up and down interstate 35, it continues to rank as one of the b ... usiest interstate highways in the country. I-35's designation as a North American Free Trade corridor only serves to point toward more growth, with Temple at the heart of this movement. Temple has been on the move since her birth, and that movement continues to this day. Whether you are a growing business or an individual looking for the "right" place to raise a family, we invite you to experience the movement and the motion that is Temple. More
