  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Five (5 ) years of related experience

Licensure/Registration/Certification
  • License as a Registered Nurse, must maintain licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing in good standing.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with clinical evidence-based tools; MCG and/or InterQual
  • Demonstrated computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Email, and applicable EMR/Practice Management Systems
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills are required
  • Ability to communicate well with physicians, medical providers, staff, and patients
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education credits and renewal of license prior to expiration
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Valid NC drivers’ license and reliable transportation to allow individuals to provide support to offsite locations as necessary
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all aspects of work from patient care to interaction with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and co-workers

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • 2 locations
  • Supervise up to 10 Direct reports and 5 indirect reports
Essential Functions
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of medical, nursing, and other personnel to achieve departmental and practice goals
  • Plan, schedule and organize work for group ensuring proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities, overall accountability for the requisition, care and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure timely and effective communication concerning department activities with providers and leadership
  • Plan, implement, and administer policies, programs, and services in a health care or medical facility, including personnel administration, training, and coordination of medical, nursing, and other staff
  • Maintain awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options
  • Champion Value Based Care and directly evaluate the quality of the care given to the patients by staff through personal observation, patient interviews, and the use of other evaluative tools
  • Provide assistance to the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants as needed and communicate with physician regarding patient concerns, changes in care, additional follow up and referrals.
  • Champion, train, monitor, and develop staff in the use of the EMR by documenting patient communication, changes in interventions per physician, document referral calls, pharmacy calls, and triage calls
  • Serve as a professional role model and mentor to staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process. Serve as a change agent to facilitate communication and transition that supports the mission of the organization
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or listen for up to 8 hours
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch and requires full range of body motion, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is expected to use the appropriate tools provided such as hand carts to carry heavier loads
  • Keying of data requires repetitive motion approximately 2 hours per day
  • This position requires eyesight (corrected or uncorrected) that allows the employee to accurately read job related materials, accurately read and record patient related information, and any other functions that require the employee to accurately see data
  • Moderate risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and OPIM
Work Environment
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time between locations.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior clinical office work environment. The noise level is usually moderate
  • Work with patients, patient relatives, vendors, nurses, and other medical professionals
  • Must be able to work more than a forty (40) hour work week as needed to accomplish the mission of the organization
