Training Program Coordinator
The Center for Indigenous Health (CIH) is located within the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. There are also satellite offices located in the Southwest and Great Lakes regions of the Midwest where much of our community-engaged work is done. CIH employs over 250 staff and faculty, has 10 distinct satellite offices and an annual operating budget of $25 million. The core activities housed at CIH include research studies of behavioral/ mental health, infectious diseases, a graduate and doctoral training and scholarship program and wide array of public health service activities. Since 1995, CIH has worked with Tribal communities to develop, evaluate, and disseminate the Family Spirit Program. Family Spirit is an evidence-based and culturally tailored home-visiting intervention delivered by Native American paraprofessionals as an Indigenous solution to supporting young Native parents from pregnancy to 3 years post-partum. Parents gain knowledge and skills to achieve optimum development for their preschool-aged children across the domains of physical, cognitive, social-emotional, language learning, and self-help. The Family Spirit Core Curriculum consists of 63 lessons taught from pregnancy to age 3. Additional curriculum modules address emerging needs and specific family circumstances. The Family Spirit Program is currently being used at community sites around the country, with training and technical assistance provided by a team of CIH faculty and staff.
The Family Spirit team at CIH is seeking a Training Program Coordinator to direct the join the dynamic, growing team that facilitates Family Spirit trainings as well as provides implementation support to communities using the Family Spirit Home Visiting model.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead virtual and in-person trainings throughout the year for the Family Spirit Core Curriculum as well as other Family Spirit curricula and tools.
  • Facilitate regular communication with Family Spirit affiliate sites to provide implementation support and technical assistance.
  • Coordinate training preparation and logistics for the Family Spirit training team.
  • Contribute to production, maintenance, evaluation and updating of Family Spirit training content and agendas.
  • Perform quality control evaluation and data analyses using existing program computational tools for program delivery evaluation.
  • Contribute knowledge, skills and expertise in defining and implementing Family Spirit trainings and technical assistance.
  • Create and document internal processes and content related to Family Spirit trainings and implementation support processes.
  • Responsible for routine operational activities such as: ordering supplies and materials, discovering optimal vendors for supplies, maintaining internal ordering catalog, reviewing inventory, maintaining up to date records of all program supplies and equipment needed to maximize effectiveness.
  • Represent the Family Spirit Program at local and national conferences and events.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of all Family Spirit and CIH projects.
  • Assist with other CIH programmatic duties on occasion as they arise.

  • Strong experience in home visiting with Indigenous and/or Tribal communities.
  • Ability to travel as needed for in-person trainings.
  • Access to strong internet and bandwidth for virtual training activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
