Confidential is Hiring a Director of Pharmacy Operations Near , MA

We are a closed-door pharmacy located in Southeastern Massachusetts whose focus is providing outstanding care to our patients. We service individuals who are disabled, on hospice, need assisted living care, or have behavioral health diagnoses. Additional company details will be provided if selected for the interview process.

We are looking for someone who is eager to dive in and make our operations better and more efficient. Reports to the COO

As the pharmacist in charge, you will supervise all pharmacists, technicians, and support staff:

  • Represent the Company in a professional and courteous manner in all job-related interactions.
  • Recruit, hire and direct supervisory staff for each department of the Company.
  • Ensure evaluation of each staff member annually and establish goals for upcoming year. Monitor employee progress toward these goals.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations; ensure that the pharmacy meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement “best practices” in all pharmacy activities and handle all licensure, inspections, and Board of Pharmacy related tasks.
  • Manage operations including scheduling, delivery, and billing.
  • Business management with P&L responsibility.
  • Oversee working relationship with external providers to be sure services provided meet the needs of their patients.
  • Manage the maintenance of necessary pharmaceutical equipment and reference texts in accordance with the requirements of State regulations.
  • Proper maintenance of records as required by all State and Federal laws.
  • Proper maintenance of adequate pharmacy security.
  • Monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance of adequate staff in the pharmacy staying within the proper ratio requirements.
  • Ensure maintenance of perpetual inventory of Schedule II drugs and reconciliation at least once every ten days.
  • Ensure the taking of a biennial inventory of controlled substances in Schedule II, III, IV and V based on State and Federal requirement.
  • Establish procedures for validating questionable controlled substance prescriptions and for reviewing existing prescription information to deter the willful and unlawful dispensing of controlled substances.
  • Resolve pharmacy client/patient concerns and complaints and provide pharmacy client/patient counseling as needed.
  • Communicate with medical professionals with regard to client/patient status and response to medication, and when necessary to resolve client/patient issues and complaints.
  • Interact with pharmaceutical manufacturers’ reps as needed to maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical products and to manage changes to formulary.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Manage pharmaceutical recalls.
  • Oversee the Company’s Quality Improvement (QI) program.
  • Participate in Company committees when requested.
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • Working as pharmacist as well; duties encompass compounding, verification and dispensing of prescriptions, as well as preparation of IV solutions.
  • Minimum of two years management experience in a pharmacy setting, LTC experience preferred.
  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree and an active Massachusetts pharmacist.
  • Entrepreneurial approach towards P&L management and business development.
  • Problem solver, able to identify issues, develops and implements solutions.
  • Ability to organize and plan activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately.
  • Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
  • The employee is required to use hands to operate computer systems and office equipment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
