We are searching for a motivated & experienced Lead Packer
The Lead Packer oversees and coordinates activities of workers engaged in packing or wrapping frozen dough products by placing finished boxes on conveyors or rollers through various stages of processing performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: include the following
  • Must know the locations of all emergency stop points located on the bread and roll lines.
  • Inspects products prior to packing and places rejected products aside.
  • Observes packing and wrapping operations to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects equipment and ensures that all safety rules are followed.
  • Must perform random audits of box counts at different intervals.
  • Must ensure that the Quality samples are performed to quality standards and taken at pre-determined times.
  • Must work have the ability to work on all packaging lines.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods and quality of product to supervision.
  • Ensures that the proper labels are being placed on the boxes in the designated area.
  • Inspects the product being packed with special arrangements.
  • Inspects product to insure conformance to quality standards and reports any problems to supervision. Such as lengths, shape and cuts.
  • Supervises the rotation of work crew to ensure uniformity in rotations.
  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures that counts of boxes as well as pre-determined weights are followed and maintained.
  • Must be able to coordinate the change of product markers along with the paperwork.
  • Must work as a team or utilize the buddy system to help co-workers when needed.
  • Must be familiar with the end of run marker and paperwork.
  • Must ensure to give the end of the run markers to Sanitation, for Sanitation to clean and return to the production office.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement culture.
  • Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).
  • Informs supervision of any problems or complications that may arise
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
  • Must do random check on product to ensure product is frozen properly. Take random samples and break bread in half to check the core. Determine if product is frozen sufficiently and if not report it the supervisor.
  • Work with production team lead to coordinate product runs, maintain communication with the leads regarding product quality and specifications.
  • "Food Safety and Quality is everyone's responsibility. You must report any Food Safety and Quality issues to your Shift Manager, Supervisor or Quality employee."
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.
  • As an employee, you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code.
