The
Career Preparation Period (CPP) Specialist
is responsible for supporting students with career preparation period per Policies and Requirements Handbook (PRH) Chapter 2 issued by Department of Labor, including oversight of the center Student Orientation Program and the online program that trainees use to develop their career pathway plans.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a Program based on Job Corps needs that supports the Career Development Services System (CDSS).Develops and implements based on Job Corps needs that supports the CDSSResearches and develops curriculum to assist the center teams with positive retention rates, students' ability to learn basic informational technology and job search skillsDevelops needs assessment of employment barriers and identifies potential transitional services that students may need for successful job placement and job retentionEnsures students receive instruction addressing basic living skillsAssists in the development of lesson plans for Career PreparationEnsures students' Career Development plans are initiated by center Career Development staffAttends required and additional staff training
Ensures students receive information and assistance in the following areasEmployability skillsInformation technologyAcademic and vocational trainingSupport servicesCommunity resourcesPlacement servicesResume writing
Requirements:
Minimum:
Associates degree in human services or a closely related field. Current driver license.
Preferred : Bachelor's Degree or four years related professional work experience. One year experience in career development, workforce development, counseling, sales, marketing, or related field. Two or more years' experience in career development, workforce development, counseling, sales, marketing, or related field.
Knowledge:
Experience in the use of computers, word processing and e-mail. Effective communication skills both oral and written. Ability to effectively relate to student population. Skilled in counseling and motivating students toward vocational, education, and social development. High energy level. Familiarity with labor market trends and other related data. Familiarity with One Stop Career Centers/Career Links. Must possess valid driver's license. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR/FA certificate.
