Arizona State University is Hiring a Website Specialist Near Tempe, AZ

Do you enjoy the challenge of crafting cutting-edge HTML and CSS to ensure effective display on all platforms? Can you leverage the power of the Drupal CMS to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff within a diverse academic environment?
The Website Specialist for The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is a flexible and creative yet process-oriented individual. In this position, you will work as a member of The College web team, maintaining numerous Drupal websites across our academic units, centers and institutes. You will implement designs and respond to web support tickets. Our web team maintains a custom Drupal distribution, and our support includes everything from troubleshooting and fixing bugs to creating content types and implementing new designs and layouts.
This opportunity provides a unique chance to join a highly skilled technical team and experience ASU's vibrant web community from the perspective of an academic unit. You will interact with a diverse group of marketing, communications and technical personnel from The College's units and an extensive network of web professionals across the university in a collaborative and energetic environment.
The role provides an environment for refining one's skills and includes ongoing professional development and learning opportunities. Hybrid and fully remote work options may be considered in this role.

Essential Duties

  • Implements responsive front-end layouts with modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Creates new web pages and forms.
  • Maintains Drupal websites with core updates and patches.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots issues with web-based applications.
  • Monitors and addresses support requests received through The College’s ticketing system.
  • Works collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues, creating solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Remains abreast of technology trends within the scope of expertise.
  • Plans/tracks projects and communicates with stakeholders via an online project management system.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Information Technology, Business, Communications or closely related field AND three (3) years web content, graphic design or electronic publishing experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with the Drupal CMS, Drupal themes, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks/libraries (ReactJS, JQuery) Responsive Design, Adobe Creative Cloud and Git version control.
  • Experience building and testing responsive web pages and templates using design assets provided via Adobe CC suite tools.
  • Experience balancing multiple project workloads simultaneously and working effectively with individuals and teams within a diverse environment.
  • An aptitude and passion for problem-solving.
  • Evidence of effective customer service skills, patience and perseverance.
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Evidence in having creative and critical thinking skills and attention to detail

Working Environment

Hybrid and fully remote work options may be considered in this role. Flexible work arrangements require department leadership approval and require up-to-date accordance with SPP 306: Flexible Work Arrangements. Activities are primarily performed in an office setting, or a professional remote office setting, and are subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
