Job Description
Reporting to the vice president, surgical services, the Trauma Program Manager is the first line supervisor with 24-hour accountability in the administration and coordination of the trauma program. The Trauma Program Manager works collaboratively with the Medical Chief of Trauma, as a partner with trauma physicians and organization staff to ensure patient safety and quality of care. The Trauma Program Manager demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead, influence and control activities pertaining to patients, personnel and the environment. Manages all non-physician activities related to the Trauma program using evidence-based principles and the standards set by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: coordination of trauma related initiatives including program initiation and verification from the ACS. Acts as the Trauma Registrar and Injury Prevention Coordinator during program development and initiation, supervising both roles/personnel as program matures. The Trauma Program Manager is accountable for the collection, completion, and verification of the accuracy of all patient data collected and the Trauma Registry data collection system. The Manager maintains clinical and statistical data, AIS coding, ICD9CM codes and abstracts various data elements required by The American College of Surgeons, the State of Michigan, and Beaumont Hospital. The Manager will provide data collection and statistics from the Trauma Registry to the Trauma Chief and Steering Committee to base injury prevention and community education. Other activities include: staff education, process improvement, peer review and supervision of employees in the Trauma Program. The Trauma Program Manager will also represent the hospital at various state, local and organizational meetings when necessary, and act as Beaumont's liaison to the community on trauma and injury prevention.
