Public Works Supervisor

The City of Centerville is now hiring for the full-time position of Public Works Supervisor with the Public Works Department. The Public Works Supervisor reports to the Public Works Operations Manager and is responsible for supervisory functions within City’s Street Maintenance, Refuse/Recycling, and Vehicle Maintenance operations. The City of Centerville is a council-manager form of government dedicated to delivering exceptional services through thoughtful governance to ensure progress and stability.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs supervisory functions including, but not limited to planning, organizing, directing, and tracking all aspects of departmental functions.
• Develops project plans and preventive maintenance schedules, determines work priorities, allocates appropriate resources, and ensures work is completed according to schedule and within department standards for quality.
• Coordinates safety training and related programming to ensure proper staff preparation while monitoring and enforcing safety rules in accordance with departmental procedures and state and federal regulations.
• Recommends strategies to improve departmental efficiency and quality.
• Directly trains, schedules, monitors, and evaluates employees.
• Assists the Public Works Operations Manager and Public Works Director in annual budget requests and ensures that the authorized budgetary and purchasing procedures are properly used.
• Keeps necessary records and makes periodic written and verbal reports to supervision.
• Participates in hiring and promotional processes.
• Responds to emergencies as necessary including those which occur outside of normal business hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills to include hands-on experience working with Microsoft Office suite of products.
• 5 years preferred experience in waste collection and/or vehicle maintenance and/or street operations
• A valid Ohio Class A CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain one within 12 months of appointment.

• Minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity

The pay range is $78,764.00 - $102,392.00 annually depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package.
