REQUIRED

• At least a BS in Biology, Biochemistry or similar degree

• Standard molecular biology skills such as performing PCR, DNA extraction and gel electrophoresis

• Excellent note taking, communication and organization skills

• Familiarity with the standard suite of Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OneNote)

• Growing and managing plants in greenhouse

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Cloning DNA constructs/plasmids

• Giving presentations at lab meetings

• Growing Arabidopsis plants

The Researcher will work with senior scientists as part of team to develop and test novel crop breeding methods that use gene editing and plant transformation. This position will provide the selected researcher opportunities to improve their molecular biology skills while contributing to meaningful discovery research. The desired researcher must be good at taking notes and keeping records of what they have done. And to be a good fit with the team, the researcher should be interested in learning about crop improvement methods and enjoy discussing new ideas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform molecular biology work with instruction from Senior Scientists

• Maintain plant growth chamber including planting and harvesting seeds, making crosses between plants and collecting leaf samples

• Track and order lab supplies

• Document work
