Position Details

Conducts research, primarily with resources in the UNI Museum, University Archives, & Digital Scholarship, in planning for the development of exhibits commemorating the university's 150th anniversary. This position is critical for providing research on the history of the University of Northern Iowa, including its founding, key milestones, notable achievements, and prominent figures. This position also identifies artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials relevant to UNI's history for display in the exhibit. Specific duties include conducts thorough research on the history of the University of Northern Iowa; plans the appropriate research strategy for the topic; works with primary sources to document and tell the history of UNI; works with campus staff to gather information, solicit input, and ensure accuracy and inclusivity in the exhibit content; and maintains detailed records of research findings, artifact acquisitions, design iterations, and other relevant project documentation. This is a temporary position scheduled to conclude on August 16th with a work schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Required Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience conducting historical research in an archives or special collections setting; and research experience with museum and archival materials required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively; and Public History Experience preferred.
