The Regional Health and Safety Manager will work closelywith the Corporate EHS Director, the Regional General Manager, individual plantand transportation management, and employees to help develop, implement,monitor, and sustain occupational safety and health policies and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead implementation and ensure compliant programs inaccordance with environmental, health and safety regulations such as OSHA, DOT,NFPA, and other respective regulations that are the foundation of the companyinjury and illness prevention programs to include State-specific regulations.
- Liaise with other Federal, State, and County regulatoryagencies when needed.
- Engage with plant and transportation management andfrontline employees to develop strategies to implement, comply with, andsustain established injury and illness prevention programs.
- Provide leadership, expertise, and input to assist in thedevelopment of new company injury and illness prevention programs and bestpractices.
- Utilize the computer-based safety management system tomaintain record keeping for plant and program specific information,investigations, records, audits, inspections, proactive actions, safetytraining, et al.
- Lead the safety training program using company trainingmaterial augmented with relevant site specific information for multiple shiftsat all locations.
- Lead compliance actions such as facility self-audits,inspections, hazard identification walks, and other proactive actions inaccordance with established injury and illness prevention programs.
- Assign risk assessment codes to all identified hazards andoversee corrective action completion.
- Conduct and coordinate incident investigations when safety,health or property damage incidents occur to include thorough root causeanalysis, interim control measures, corrective actions, and future mitigationstrategies.
- Coach on H&S program concepts and elements to allleadership levels within the region.
- Lead the H&S culture forward by combining all jobelements and program requirements into achievable and increasingly progressivegoals.
- Regularly communicate and meet with corporate, regional,plant and transportation management regarding the status of safety and healthprograms.
- Provide input as a member of the EHS Management Team.
- Travel in between regional locations on a routine basis.
- Participate in industry conferences and meetings.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunisticcuriosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with H&S program management either throughcomplying with programs in an industrial manufacturing setting or managingH&S programs.
- Demonstrated experience providing leadership on safetyprograms.
- Demonstrated experience presenting training material infront of an audience.
- College degree preferred but some college or advancedstudies required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in MicrosoftOffice
