PARK TECHNICIAN
Reports To: Reservoir Superintendent
Supervises: N/A
Summary: Maintains Park and Wildlife Management facilities under direct supervision of Reservoir Superintendent and guidance from Reservoir Park Specialist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Knowledge Required:
Overall knowledge of the District’s operations and District's rules, regulations, and policies as they pertain to the parks and wildlife management areas. Must have a rudimentary knowledge of the TCEQ rules for on-site septic systems.
Coordination and Communication:
Activities of the District require continual communication and coordination.
Communication and coordination may include Board Members, managers, employees, customers, landowners, elected officials, local, state and federal agencies, consultants, vendors and the general public. If unusual or emergency situations arise, the appropriate person(s) should be notified as soon as possible.
Education, Training, and Experience:
High School Diploma or acceptable GED equivalency required. Two to six years experience in park maintenance and upkeep, construction and dirt work using light and heavy equipment.
Certification or License:
Valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License is required. Class “CDL-A” Texas Drivers License is preferred.
CPR and First Aid Certification required.
Equipment Used:
Pickup truck, water craft, dump truck, loader, backhoe, tractor with implements, motor grader, dozer, ditch-witch, winch truck, riding lawn mowers, mowers, weed eaters and chainsaws.
Physical / Mental Demands:
Requires use of sight, hearing, speech, hands, and feet. This is a physically demanding job, which involves heavy lifting, climbing, and stooping. This position requires outdoor work in all types of weather including heat, cold, and inclement, stormy conditions.
Attendance within policy guidelines is required. Requires physical ability to be “on-call” for response in emergency and/or critical periods. May require working extra hours during emergencies. May require physical exertion in emergency or extremely busy situations.
