• This position works out of the Ferry Division Marine Maintenance Shipyard in Manns Harbor, NC and work hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday – Friday.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

• Knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of piping systems.
• Knowledge of safety precautions in the pipefitting trade.
• Skill in the use of tools and equipment necessary to affect repairs.
• Knowledge of the characteristics of pipes constructed of a variety of materials.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in the installation and repair of a variety of piping systems similar to those aboard ferries and dredges; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
