Job Title: Youth Programs Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: President/CEO

Job Purpose

To provide program development and leadership, community collaboration, and general coordination in the delivery of broad-based programs that meet the needs of families within the community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program development, management, and evaluation focusing on youth of our community and our mission.
  • Develop and plan special events that relate to the mission of the YWCA regarding racial justice and the empowerment of women and girls.
  • Develop and maintain a partnership with the St Joseph School District and other surrounding area/service area schools.
  • Oversee data collection/quality for accurate data records and statistical information.
  • Analyze outcome data to measure program effectiveness and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Assess community needs: develop and enhance programming to meet these needs.
  • Remain up to date with budget awareness, preparation, and needs.
  • Collaborate with community partners to improve services to youth and families.
  • Participate in state, local, and internal meetings, events, and activities as needed and assigned.
  • Remain up to date on funding needs, funding sources, and funding timelines.
  • Assist with monthly funding reports as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required and/or assigned.
  • Commitment to the YWCA mission of Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women.
  • Other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of family issues including health and community resources.
  • Knowledge of program coordination, development, and evaluation.
  • Ability to relate to individuals of all ages.
  • Skill and knowledge in facilitating groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with media, community, organizations, and participants.
  • Ability to write grants, and complete grant reports.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel within the Buchanan County area.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions

  • Forty (40) hour workweek with flexibility regarding days/times to meet client needs and/or deadlines.
  • Employee works in an office environment and is protected from weather conditions and contaminants but is expected to provide services in other locations as needed.
  • Travel could include home visits within a four-county region.
  • Some evenings/weekends may be required based upon program needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing or sitting for long periods, bending, stooping and occasional lifting (not to exceed 50 pounds).
  • Repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform activities requiring cooperation, instruction, or speaking with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in person and in writing, with program participants, donors, funders, partners, volunteers, and staff.

  • Technological Aptitude: Understand software applications and maintain skills necessary to effectively perform key responsibilities through the use of company utilized programs.
