About this Opportunity:
In addition to YDS duties, Team Leads are expected to act as leaders on the respective shifts, conveying consistency, purpose, expectations, accountability, and direction to the YDS they work with. Additionally, they will act as models of youth engagement, taking ownership of creating a therapeutic milieu, displaying appropriate de-escalation techniques, and encouraging fellow staff to engage intentionally and regularly. Team Leads will also act as the central trainers for on-the-job training of new hires, and they will take on additional responsibilities such as coordination of intake, discharge, cleaning vans, allowance, etc.
Would you like to help us accomplish our mission as a Youth Development Specialist Team Lead?
Our ideal candidate will have experience working with children and youth with emotional and behavioral challenges strongly preferred. This includes working with developmentally disabled and cognitively impaired youth (can include youth with classic autism spectrum disorder that exhibit severely restricted functioning levels), and youth with or without substance use or dependency symptoms. Must be current DABSJ residential staff who is fully trained in all applicable areas (e.g. medication passing, Aegis, Sanctuary, CPR, etc.). You must have a High school diploma required, with some college education in psychology, social work, sociology, youth and family studies or related field preferred. Lastly you must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record with a reliable vehicle available at all times.
