Must be a U.S. Citizen 18 years of age or older
Possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Possess a State ID or Valid Drivers license
FQO w/CCH Certified LEADS Operator
Currently a full-time or part-time corrections officer position
Communications Operator with a minimum of 1-year experience
Currently in PERS pension system
PASS A SERIES OF ASSESSMENTS INCLUDING:
Background check
Polygraph exam
Psychological exam
Physical exam, if required

Position Qualifications
Ability to pass a background investigation and reference check concerning work experience, criminal activity, character, trustworthiness and dependability. Applicant must pass a polygraph examination. Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
Licensure Or Certification Requirements
CCH; LEADS certification.
Distinguishing Job Characteristics
Under general supervision, dispatches police and fire departments on 911 and other calls, and provides communications support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. Reasonable accommodations will be made for disabled persons, covered by the Americans With Disabilities Act, in accordance with its requirements.
Makes decisions for assignment of Police units in accordance with established procedures.
Provides continued contact and assistance. Monitors radio messages and runs warrant checks, license registrations, social security numbers and telephone numbers for police and other law enforcement officers responding on calls.
Arranges for ambulances, tow trucks, and other emergency vehicles. Contacts off-duty fire personnel for fire emergencies, as directed.
Enters into and retrieves information from LEADS/NCIC systems regarding stolen property, missing or wanted persons, suspects and other information necessary to support law enforcement operations. Runs registration and driver's license check through LEADS, and criminal history checks through CCH.
Types radio logs to record all police radio transmissions, and enters into computer system information pertaining to calls and incidences. Maintains file on all active warrants.
Answers business calls and transfers to requested party. Receives and relays regular and special weather reports. Receives and handles non-emergency calls and contacts. Accepts calls from employees in other city departments informing of absences. Handles miscellaneous public complaints, requests for general information, and other matters.
Receives payments for parking tickets and bonds, records transaction and issues receipt. Balances cash drawer. Releases impounded and towed vehicles to owners upon payment of fee.

Working Conditions
Good working conditions. Exposure to stress when handling emergency calls. Exposure to normal occupational hazards when consistently operating computers including eye and wrist strain.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into LEADS, computer and other tasks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision, with the ability to adjust focus when reading a computer screen. Employee must communicate with a variety of persons, most importantly over the telephone and 2-way radio. The employee normally must be able to converse verbally with the general public, police officers and others, and to hear.
