City of Memphis Careers is Hiring an Om Shift Supervisor Near Memphis, TN
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor. Supervises activities of workers on an assigned shift engaged in operating and maintaining equipment in the wastewater facility to insure continuous and efficient operation to meet federal, state and city guidelines. Oversees personnel on assigned shift providing training, work direction, assignment of duties, and administers discipline. Makes regular inspections of facility to detect malfunctions and needed maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds. Interprets computer, meter and gage readings. Initiates appropriate action when problems are detected. Maintains daily log of operation activities. Monitors employee attendance and maintains time sheets.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs task of subordinates when situation demands necessary.
2. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to read meters and gages. Must be able to lift bags of materials, such as lime, sandblasting, and fertilizer (approx. 75 lbs.). Requires ability to traverse uneven terrain and over ditches. Requires ability to climb ladders and stairs.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Twenty-four hour, seven-day-week operation; must work assigned shift. Majority of work is performed outdoors. May be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, noise, heat and all types of weather conditions.
High school graduate and six (6) years experience in operating and/or maintaining machinery and equipment similar to that used in large volume wastewater treatment plants with one (1) of the six (6) in a supervisory/lead capacity preferred; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a current valid State of Tennessee Certification as a Class IV Wastewater Treatment Operator as a condition of continued employment.
