All Dulles Area Muslim Society is Hiring a Youth Program Coordinator Near Sterling, VA

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) is searching for an in-person full-time or part-time Youth Coordinator to initiate/manage programs, events, and activities; mentor youth leaders and empower them to lead and own future programming.

Role

● The YPC will build upon the existing foundation and history of the ADAMS Youth Program and participate as a member of the ADAMS Youth Committee.

● The YPC will create personal relationships with ADAMS youth and empower them to organize their own events and programs within the larger ADAMS structure.

● The YPC will further advocate for ADAMS youth and help create space for them within the masjid wherever necessary.

● Major responsibilities include coordinating programs with the various ADAMS branches and departments, supervising programmatic offerings and one-time events (such as halaqas, Qiyyams, one-on-one and group mentorship, and sports programs), supporting area high school MSAs and facilitating the participation in the annual MIST competition.

● All efforts should be directed towards having the youth connect to the masjid and to one another.

Key Responsibilities

● Coordinating programs within the ADAMS Sterling Center, ADAMS Branches and their Youth leadership

● Supervising weekly programs (such as halaqas and sports programs),

● Supporting area high school MSAs,

● Facilitating participation in the annual MIST competition, organising and participating in local Youth related camps and conferences, and other active engagements as necessary.

● All efforts should be directed towards having the youth connect to the masjid, as well as to one another.

● The YPCs will take advice regarding Youth programs and activities from the ADAMS Youth Committee and the Imam’s Office, and will report directly to the ADAMS Youth Director

Major Qualifications

● Ability to work outside traditional working hours such as nights and weekends

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in youth development, psychology or a related field

● Highly motivated, self-directed and enthusiastic about Youth activism

● Ability to listen attentively and communicate effectively in written and spoken English

● Possess a deep understanding of challenges and opportunities of Muslim American Youth

● Possess a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Islam, Islamic etiquette, and manners

● Passionate about Islam as a way of life and guiding young Muslims as a career

● Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills

● Ability to work well with others in a team environment

● Ability to work and empathize with diverse populations and different age groups, such as Middle Schoolers, High Schoolers and College students

● Ability to network with internal and external communities

● Familiarity with basic computer skills: Email, Internet, MS Office, Google Documents, Canva, Social Media etc.

● Ability to report regularly on Youth activities with progress metrics

● Possess a valid driver’s licence

Desired Qualifications & Soft Skills

● Ability to manage budgets and manage funds

● Ability to problem-solve, improvise and be resourceful

● 2 - 4 years of work experience in running youth programs or programs related to youth

● Conversant with American life and culture

● Ability to manage ambiguity and driven to find clarity

● Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a positive attitude

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
