COMMUNITY REENTRY SPECIALIST - BISBEE JAILCLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law OPEN: Wednesday, May 22, 2024CLOSES: Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt, and may close at anytime without notice ANTICIPATED HIRING SALARY: $43,583 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System PLEASE NOTE: Position is grant funded through December 31, 2024. Employment beyond this date may be contingent upon continued grant funding. Under general supervision, performs transition services work of moderate difficulty in a detention/jail setting; performs related work as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(Illustrative Only) The Community Re-Entry Specialist, plays a crucial role in coordination, collaboration, planning, developing, and reporting for individuals re-entering the community after incarceration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide support and advocacy to program participants;Prepare and maintain records and reports;Review client information to assess service needs;Provide coordination and connection to services, including but not limited to: supportive services; court/judicial staff; legal advocates; community medical, mental health, and substance use disorder providers; probation staff; and rehabilitation/treatment entities; Coordinate and collaborate with program staff and community-based organizations, public agencies, coalitions, schools and other appropriate facilities to provide re-entry coordination and facilitate referrals for individuals;Prepare and disseminate informational program materials;Maintain updated client records;Assist with collecting, organizing, and reporting data relevant to recidivism, community re-entry progress, and productivity;Develop and maintain positive relationships;Conduct outreach and follow up for individuals post re-entry as needed;Provide feedback for programs regarding improving service, accessibility or acceptability;Ensure management remains informed of key operating issues;Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion;Serve with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Considerable knowledge of: Programs and services provided by governmental and non-governmental organizations; Community resources and referral options;Judicial system, Criminal Justice system, Behavioral Health system, and social service sector; Develop and maintain positive relationships with a culturally diverse client population;Knowledge of basic public health issues, methods, and principles;Social skills demonstrative of empathy and support;Social determinants of health, and engaging vulnerable populations. Ability to: Successfully manage competing priorities; Deal impartially with individuals of various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds;Work within a team environment to collaboratively accomplish common goals and objectives;Perform duties with demonstrated ability to work independently in rapidly changing environments;Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the County Attorney, Public Defender, Legal Defender, Public Fiduciary, and Health and Social Services offices, as well as local treatment providers, and other community resources; Read, write, and speak English; Follow written and verbal instructions;Communicate effectively verbally and in writing;Collect and organize data; Develop/contribute to reports as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a detention or jail facility with appropriate climate controls where the possibility of physical violence and harm exists. Requires working evenings and holidays as scheduled. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching and handling with varying frequencies. Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds. Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.Reasonable accommodations will be made for those that are able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
