About the job

The Finance Business Partner position is responsible to lead a North American distribution business financial reporting requirements and provide line of business unit analytical support. This leader will focus on further developing a finance organization that has a comprehensive understanding of all key business drivers and delivering operational excellence. This position reports to the VP of Finance.

The four general overall areas of responsibility include:

  • Financial review and analysis, budgeting, and monthly reporting requirements. This is not limited to strictly financial data but includes all parts of the business including HR and Accounting related data.
  • Acts as a primary commercial liaison for support activities within the region and corporate for any Accounting, Audit, Indirect Spend and Accounts Payable (including CapEx).
  • Provides comments/suggestions/feedback for improvement in results through KPI analysis for the Distribution and Consumer business, including strategic alignment on NA mid and long-term goals.
  • Assist with special projects, strategic planning, and preparation of business cases as requested by the leaders of the assigned LoB.

This role has a strong position in inventory planning, analysis, and control, as well as Navision system leadership, expertise and cross training.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Financial review and analysis, budgeting, and monthly reporting requirements. This is not limited to strictly financial data but includes all parts of the business including HR and Accounting related data. Time spent - 50%

  • Fully supports the annual budget and forecasting process to ensure that the financial plan for all sites and commercial line of business in SBU is properly represented. Meets with key business stakeholders to ensure that their insight has been included in the plan.
  • Analyzes monthly P&L against plan, prior year, and forecasts. Research variances and provides detailed explanations to the NALT.
  • Generates monthly reports of various account analysis and reconciliations including key operating expenses for management review.
  • Ensures that key business stakeholders are well informed and knowledgeable regarding the financials from their functional area of operations.
  • Prepares or reviews all required monthly financial reports to support the month-end close process including Accounting and FP&A requirements.
  • Ensures that all other applicable processes or controls not listed in this section have been met.

Administrative control and compliance activities of the Region. As such, there is “dotted line” reporting relationship with the Sales leader of the segments. Acts as a primary field contact for support activities within the segment and corporate for any Accounting, Audit, Indirect Spend and Accounts Payable (including CapEx). Time spent 35%

  • Review weekly and monthly management and exception reports to ensure all sites and lines of business are complying with policy, and procedures and to identify any unusual transactions and trends that require further research.
  • Conducts periodic reviews to ensure continuing compliance with administrative policies and procedures, including resolving issues.
  • Oversees the development of KPI and reporting that aligns with NA mid and long-term goals.
  • Directs financial reviews or initiatives to support strategic priorities and/or improve management processes and standardize methodologies. Implement and maintain constantly evolving performance measurement practices, and reporting.
  • Provide guidance and direction to NA SBU team on what reports should be viewed, what should be developed and what KPIs to focus on for the MR.
  • Oversees the proper coding of all operating expenses for all branches within the district. Ensure that we have proper procedures in place for coding expenses and that those who code expenses are well educated in the procedure.
  • Responsible for reviewing all Customer Rebate Award and Refund Documentation.
  • Provides support to include financial modeling and analysis related to operations, facilities and optimization and SWOT analysis for specific business topics/functions.
  • Ensures that all other applicable processes or controls not listed in this section have been met.

Assist with special projects, strategic planning, and preparation of business cases as requested by the leaders of the assigned LoB. Time spent 15%

  • Participation in or the review of the development of new business relationships and/or acquisition of new types of business to ensure compliance with administrative policy and procedure. Transaction systems and interface to the financial systems can address the new transactions, and if not, what modifications are necessary.
  • Completion and/or participation in special projects requested by Regional Management, Administrative Management, or Corporate.
  • Preparation of specific analyses on a periodic basis, such as, for example: Individual product and/or product group profitability, profitability of specific lines of business.
  • Reviews and, as required, develops justification, i.e., calculating return on investment, for capital expenditures, new projects, new products or lines of business, etc.
  • Analyzes economic consequences of regional alternative courses of actions and recommendations of value-maximizing decisions (i.e., resource allocation decisions, pricing, and contracts with customers or suppliers).
  • Supports and participates in acquisition due diligence and coordinates acquisition integration activities.

Assists with requests by the VP of Finance or VP of Sales as requested

Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent from a fully accredited institution is required; CPA, CMA.
  • MBA is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Business, Finance and/or Accounting experience.
  • Demonstrative knowledge of financial principles.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization skills and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with sales operations preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office with very strong Excel skills.
  • Strong writing/communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Navision preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI an asset.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions/Other Requirements:

Hybrid office environment

Travel up to 20% - local and international

Compensation and Benefits:

This position comes with a compensation plan that includes a base salary, bonus available, benefit options, retirement savings plan with company contribution, vacation, and personal days. Compensation will be in range of $110K-120K.
