POSITION SUMMARY

Manage daily operation of equipment circulation facility at 280 S Columbus Drive in SAIC’s 280 Building. Maintain the systems that supply instructional media support for faculty, students, and departments. Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of work-study student employees in the delivery of circulation resources and services. Schedule Freelance Figure Models and process Figure Model requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and provide continuous daily management and training of 45 to 60 student employees. Confer with the Media Center management team regarding the evaluation, promotion, and discipline of student employees. As part of a team, track student progress and development.
  • Schedule 15 to 20 Figure Models. Act as liaison between Figure Models and academic departments. Stay consistently informed of changing requirements of faculty in regard to types of figure models desired and the ability of figure models to perform in a variety of disciplines. Communicate safe classroom policy for figure model employees.
  • Provide daily management for the Media Center in the 280 Building at 280 S Columbus Drive. Receive and discern all Special & Instructional Equipment Requests.
  • Oversee construction and quality of equipment kits for checkout purposes. Coordinate with Coordinator of Administration, Operations & Inventory regarding online/offline repair needs for the 280 Building Media Center circulating equipment. Handle some small repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Liaise with technical staff in academic departments which circulate equipment through the Media Center. Meet regularly to discuss equipment needs, policies, and planning. Collaborate with departments regarding their equipment kits, capital requests, and retirement gear. Work closely with the Coordinator of Administration, Operations & Inventory regarding packaging and roll out of new gear for the 280 Building Media Center.
  • Develop and recommend alternative policies and procedures to guide the use and access of Media & Instructional Resources. As part of a team, maintain WebCheckout data and report system issues.
  • Research and recommend new equipment purchases. Stay current with technological advances and trends. Consult with the SAIC community to maintain high quality equipment and resources for SAIC.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience serving in a lead role on a team.
  • Experience building or coordinating shift schedules for staff or event programming.
  • Experience mentoring youth programs or college work-study students.
  • Experience in a high-volume customer service environment.
  • Experience with circulation management or point of sale software.
  • Proficiency with Macintosh computer, office and administrative software required

Salary grade 7

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 31.
