The tasks, duties, and responsibilities comprising the job description for electrical estimator is outlined below:
Identifying and building up cost estimates by analyzing the materials and labor needed to complete electrical construction projects.
Electric construction projects include but are not limited to critical infrastructure projects (UPS, ATS, emergency generation), high and low voltage AC power including lighting and standard power distribution, DC power plants and distribution, low voltage/fiber systems, security systems and public address systems.
Examining and explaining the cost of wasted materials and possible delays in a project, and suggesting recommendations or coming up with solutions to rectify these issues
Identifying the risks involved in the projects, creating production schedules, and so on
Liaising and communicating effectively with company leadership, senior electrical staff and vendors.
Reviewing and analyze industrial, and commercial design/building plans in order to determine the electrical needs of a project.
Create comprehensive material and labor take-off based on design/building plans.
Create equipment bid packages for competitive bidding of material. Reviewing supplier costs in order to determine how much each individual element costs, and negotiating with suppliers in order to obtain the best prices
Maintaining cost of databases and outlining common costs in order to save time on future estimates.
Minimum 10-years experience in electric construction field required. Journeyman electrician experience preferred.
