RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
The individual assigned to this position is responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the AG Energy Facility located in Ogdensburg, New York. The facility utilizes two natural gas fired water tube boilers to provide steam to the adjacent thermal host.
The individual will also share in the monitoring of the 24-hour Virtual Operations Center (VOC) desk. This 24/7 desk oversees the operations of two downstate Gas Turbine Power Plants on a rotational basis with other facility technicians.
Specific responsibilities and duties include:
· Troubleshooting, overhauling, and maintaining all machinery commonly found in cogeneration power plants.
· Assist in maintaining, developing, and improving the facility’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
· Coordinating and supervising subcontracted maintenance activities.
· Safeguarding the plant by enforcing all facility safety policies.
· Maintaining and enforcing all local, state, and federal environmental permits.
· Tracking and inventorying spare parts and consumables using CMMS.
· Maintaining the facility's water treatment program within specified limits. This includes daily lab work, monitoring, testing, and corrective action of all water treatment equipment. Technician is responsible for the documentation related to water treatment to support local and federal reporting requirements.
· Being available when on call, or when otherwise needed.
· Performing other assigned duties.
· Working overtime and performing tasks that require physical exertion.
· Identifying any abnormal plant condition and taking the appropriate corrective actions when possible.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
· The facility technician reports directly to the Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must possess a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years full time, paid experience in steam and electric power plant operations with an overall knowledge of power plant equipment and operations theory. Military steam or gas turbine experience is acceptable.
· Must be able to work rotating shift work and weekends.
· Must be willing to travel to other company locations to assist as needed.
· Must possess:
o The ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
o The ability to set up 55-gallon drums for use.
o The ability to work at elevation greater than 100 feet above grade.
o The ability to use respiratory equipment.
o The ability and dexterity to manipulate various size components from valves to small electrical switches to computer keyboards: and ability to "handle" quick changing situations under stress.
o The ability to climb ladders and stairs at elevations greater than 100 feet.
· A valid New York State Drivers License
· Must demonstrate a basic knowledge of computer software and use word, excel and other typical applications software.
