Rogerson Brand is Hiring a MDS Nurse (RN) Near Boston, MA

Title: MDS Nurse (RN) 

Supervisor: Director of Nursing

The MDS Nurse will help manage nursing team along with completing or acting as liaison in the intake and evaluation of new participants, completing MDS documents while assisting the DON with maintaining clinical compliance throughout the program.

REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in nursing, Masters preferred
  • Active RN license in the state of MA
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations and benefit guidelines
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a clinical setting
  • Experience working in a clinical compliance capacity within a day program and/or related facilities and services, including responsibility for patient safety and care; administrative, clinical compliance and training.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of elders of all socioeconomic backgrounds, and disabled persons and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team leader is a must
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership and significant experience in developing and successfully implementing new systems and processes to comply with regulations.
  • Positive attitude, energetic, assertive, and capable role model for subordinates.
  • Demonstrated integrity on personal as well as professional level.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, basic computer, and management skills.
  • Familiarity with the MDS assessments and reauthorization process.
  • Exceptional knowledge in clinical compliance and the Department of Public Health regulations as they apply to Adult Day Health Programs.
  • Ability to interact cooperatively with a wide range of people in person and by phone, and to sensitively resolve problems involving clients, families, staff, and emergency occurrences.
  • Ability to visit each program on a regular basis to monitor for clinical quality, regulatory compliance as it pertains to nursing and respond to emergency situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the developing, maintaining and updating of our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department.
  • Ensuring the development as well as the completion of the MDS in accordance with state and federal requirements and aligned with the policies of the facility.
  • Preform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, MDS forms, reauthorizations, and evaluations.
  • Monthly review of clinical documentation to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Participate in surveys (inspections, recertification) made by authorized agencies.
  • Make written and oral reports/ recommendations to the Director of Nursing when necessary/required, concerning the operation of the Nursing Department.
  • Assist in development and training of onboarding procedures for current and new staff.
  • Assist and maintain staff schedule, vacation and time off for all clinical staff.
  • Assist with carrying out physician's orders including but not limited to: vital signs, medications (excluding controlled substances), blood sugar monitoring and treatments. Coordinate these orders with family and/or other health care providers.
  • Prepare the minimum data sets in a timely manner per the regulations set forward by the department of health.
  • Actively communicates with the Director of Nursing to depict regulatory risk and clinical trends that can impact participant care as well as any additional information that can have a potential effect on the clinical and potential outcomes of the facility.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
