Your Responsibilities as a Vac Truck Field Assistant

The Vac Truck Field Assistant will be responsible for all activities related to assisting the Vac Truck Operator, including responsibility for ensuring efficient and effective performance of the work. This position will report directly to the Vac Truck Operator. The Field Assistant will be responsible for working as directed by the vacuum truck operator to assist setting up traffic control, excavate potholes for utility locating, cleaning, and removing debris from manholes, sewer lines, storm drains, and other conveyance structures. The vacuum truck crew member will also operate and clean the vacuum truck and its various tools. This is an entry level position with an opportunity to advance once skills have been mastered and positive performance reviews and evaluations have been completed.

• Report for work on time at company equipment yard to ride with the truck driver and/or truck helper to the job site.
• Actively participate in the daily job briefings
• Wear Personal Protection Equipment at all times without being reminded.
• Follow safety rules and demonstrate safe job site behaviors including traffic control.
• Communicate clearly and professionally using Verbal and Non-Verbal (Hand-Signals) communication.
• Demonstrate a positive self-motivated attitude.
• Cooperate with the truck leader and co-workers in a respectful and productive way.
• Setup tools at job site including vacuum hose, and other miscellaneous tools as needed.
• Operate vacuum hose during vacuum excavation.
• Keep the job site clean and organized by keeping tools sorted and out of the way of other people, traffic, and crews.
• Place tools and equipment back in their proper location at the end of each shift.
• Help keep the vacuum truck clean and organized by removing asphalt, rocks, debris, and trash.
• Help truck leader with miscellaneous tasks as needed to complete the excavation job and return to the equipment yard.
• Report any incidents or accidents promptly and follow company protocols.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures related to driving and safety.
• Always seek to improve procedures that improve tracking, communication, and efficiency.
• Serve the goals and objectives of Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc.
• Maintain the Petticoat-Schmitt Code of Conduct.
• Is an ambassador of the company and follows our company values (A.C.T.)

Requirements for the Vac Truck Field Assistant Position at Petticoat-Schmitt:

• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job while exposed to Florida’s inclement weather for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift 90 lbs. minimum using proper lifting form.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.

Hours Information:

• Normal hours are M-F, 7am – 3:30pm
• Hours can extend depending on production needs.
• Some Saturdays as necessary. We are off on Sundays.
• We plan on working 40-45 hours per week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed.
