Summary:

Under the general supervision
of the Clinic Administrator or Physician and according to established
procedures provides care to patients and families. Responsible and accountable for the care
provided regardless of whether it is provided solely by said nurse or if by the
nurse and others under his/her supervision.
Implements and coordinates the steps of the nursing process involves
the patient in decision making relative to care and is responsible for making
nursing care judgements and acting upon them.
Collaborates with Physicians in the management of prescribed medical
plan of care. Involves implementation of
the physician prescribed regimen evaluations of patient response to the
regimen and communication to the Physician of changes in the patients
status. Functions under protocol which
extend responsibilities for medical management activities. Coordinates the patient plan of care with
nurses Physicians and other member s of the Health Team and agencies within
the community to provide an integrated and comprehensive approach to care
delivery. Responsible for participating
in educational quality assurance and research activities. Additionally the Registered Nurse acts as a
consultant sharing his/her clinical expertise and knowledge with other health
care providers and members of the community.
Performs clinical management functions specifically delegated by the
Clinical Manager. The nurse participates
in organizational planning and decision making which affects patient care and
Ambulatory Service operations. The
Registered Nurse also participates in related nursing medical and hospital
committee activities. Practices within
the framework of the philosophy objectives policies procedures and standards
of the Hospital and his/her specific Ambulatory Service./o:p

Responsible to the Clinical
Manager meets and maintains competence as defined by the clinical service
experience and credential requirements provides nursing care to patients./o:p

Implements and coordinates
the steps of the nursing process assessment diagnosis goal setting
prescription intervention and evaluation./o:p

Delegates supervises and
coordinates nursing care activities provided by personnel assigned to assist in
the provision of nursing care such as but not limited to Licensed Practical
Nurses Nurses Assistants Orderlies and Technicians./o:p

Implements the prescribed
medical regimen evaluates the patient response to the regimen and advises the
physician of changes in the patients condition./o:p

Performs extended functions
in accordance with written Rhode Island Hospital protocols and policies./o:p

/o:p

Participates in clinic and
departmental level collaborative activities such as but not limited to joint
case presentations grand rounds./o:p

/o:p

Collaborates on a continuous
basis with the patient family Physician nurses and other health team members
to integrate evaluate and ensure continuity of the plan of care./o:p

Identifies with and makes
referrals to health team resources within the hospital and the community and
serves as a consultant to others./o:p

Provides coordinates and
documents teaching for patients and families related to management of the
health problem health promotion and rehabilitation./o:p

Seeks out and participates in
activities leading to self-growth and professional development./o:p

/o:p

Updates knowledge of
professional medical and technological developments and participates in the
incorporation of these into clinical nursing practice./o:p

Participates in educational
activities commensurate with learning needs and individual ability such as but
not limited to conference seminars and orientation of new staff./o:p

Works with facility members
of affiliated nursing educational programs to integrate clinical proactive for
students within the plan patient care management./o:p

Participates in clinic and
departmental quality assurance activities such as but not limited to monitoring
and evaluation of care validation of nursing and ambulatory standards
policies and procedures./o:p

Participates in related
clinical and operational research activities./o:p

Assumes charge position
responsibilities for the clinic as delegated./o:p

Participates with the
Ambulatory Clinical Manager in performance appraisals./o:p

Participates on committees
and in other organizational activities involving professional practice and
patient care standards./o:p

Other information:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Graduate of an accredited
School of Nursing Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.

Must have current licensure
to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.

Demonstrated knowledge and
skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging
processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the
care process.

EXPERIENCE:

ONS bio-chemo certification to administer chemotherapy. One year oncology experience.
