DeLallo is Hiring a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Specialist Near Southwest, PA

Job Description:

The Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety Specialist is a key position that spans responsibility for testing and overseeing the quality and safety of raw materials and imported products. A primary function of this position is to evaluate suppliers from a food safety and quality perspective and to maintain appropriate documentation related to supplier approvals. The individual will also be responsible for monitoring incoming raw materials and products for adherence to specifications and food safety requirements. The specialist will be cross trained in order to monitor food safety and quality during the production of finished goods, including the pre-operational and operational, and sanitation processes of food production in our facilities.

Essential Functions:

* Ensures compliance with FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program requirements

* Critically analyzes food safety and quality data in order to determine adherence to supplier approval program for new and existing suppliers

* Continuously monitors supplier performance using key performance indicators

* Inspects and approves incoming product deliveries based on pre-defined criteria

* Works with purchasing department to resolve gaps in required food safety or quality documentation

* Communicates closely and efficiently with the Director of Quality and Food Safety, Production, Purchasing and R&D regarding acceptance, rejection and disposition of raw materials and finished products

* Identifying and assessing key risks to QA and food safety policies and procedures

* Provides necessary support to operations to ensure consistency and maintenance of high-quality products, as well as proper food safety and quality performance

* Assists Food Safety and Quality Manager and Director as needed; act as Substitute SQF Practitioner

* Creates and updates SOPs and Food Safety programs

* Works closely with third party laboratories to ensure satisfactory completion of testing

Qualifications

Required Skills:

* Knowledge of food product development and processes, food safety and allergens.

* Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in food science or technology, Biology microbiology, chemistry or related field

* Prior experience in Supplier Approval or Food Manufacturing Quality Assurance and Food Safety

* Must have extensive knowledge of GFSI, FDA, USDA, and FSMA including FSVP food regulations and documentation requirements.

* Appropriate Certifications for HACCP, PCQI, FSVP, SQF or other GFSI benchmarked program.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

* Must have a valid driver's license without restrictions.

Work Environment & Equipment:

While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a refrigerated food production facility as well as an office environment and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

This position is frequently required to sit, stand and walk.

Travel:
