Chicanos Por La Causa Inc is Hiring a PAT Parent Educator Near Flagstaff, AZ

This will be a hybrid position - office and remote work.
Position SummaryPAT Parent Educator (PE) conducts in-home visitation services in the form of Parents as Teachers to the South Phoenix Region in Maricopa County. Under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator and observation provided by the Senior PAT Parent Educator, this role provides in-home educational services to families, as well as information/referrals to support and assist parents with the tools to promote healthy child development in the early years of life. Under direct supervision, a PAT PE will provide guidance by helping a parent to become their child’s first teacher. This involves teaching the parents developmentally appropriate evidenced-based curriculum customized for the specific needs of their family to promote optimal growth and brain development. A PAT PE will encourage meaningful interactions between parent and child, while supporting a parent to feel empowered and an advocate.
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in child development, family studies, psychology, social work or related area of study, or experience equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree including a minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with culturally & economically diverse populations of parents, infants, and children. Candidates who do not meet Bachelor’s Degree criteria are subject to the approval of the funder and must agree to a professional development plan upon hire.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have access to safe, reliable transportation with valid automobile insurance.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Complete Foundational and Model Implementation Training with Parents as Teachers within 3 months of hire and maintain their Parents as Teachers certification throughout employment as a funder requirement.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain the certifications throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 20 hours per Fiscal Year of continuing education and competency building, including but not limited, to Relias Learning, Conference, Workshops, and/or Outside Training.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with infant & child development, parent-child attachment, possible behavioral health dynamics of caregivers, as well as the dynamics of child abuse & neglect.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with strength-based and family-centered provision of primary prevention services.
  • Able to assist in identifying individual/family strengths and planning/advocating around individual/family goals.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with community resources as well as how to navigate/access these resources for families (some examples of services include Social Service Agencies, Provider Systems such as behavioral health, and division of developmental disabilities.)
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, tactful).
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to promote clear understanding.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently, cohesively within team dynamics, and under direct supervision to effectively meet program requirements/objectives.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, keep appropriate records, and develop effective programmatic communications with supervisory guidance.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in cultural diversity, substance abuse, sexual abuse, family violence that may have an impact of child abuse and neglect on child development, preferred.
  • Demonstrate interest and ability to advocate with and on behalf of low-income, diverse families, preferred.
  • Previous experience in In-home visitation services, preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly desirable (will consider other languages)

Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19.
