WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for a General Inspector/Sampler to work with our Inspection team, based in Fredericktown, Missouri. You will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at agreed consignment locations, acting as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and inspection and supervision procedures and providing details to clients regarding the handling of their products.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight, you will need to display the following:

Essential 

  • Able to send and receive accurate email and phone communications for coordination and scheduling of assignments and to communicate status updates.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as packing lists, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, safety instructions, etc.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have the ability to convey details through accurate, professional and timely communications (verbal, written and in person) including taking photographs and producing thorough and detailed written reports.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be reliable and able to organise and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • Must be respectful, able to work well with others, communicate effectively, handle conflict resolution and maintain positive, courteous and professional relationships with colleagues, clients and on and off site personnel. 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, G-mail, Google Drive).
  • Must have a good grasp of basic mathematics (counting, verifying quantities and weights).
  • Follow appropriate health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain work areas, records and equipment in a clean, organized and functional condition.

Required Work Experience 

  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices is preferred but not essential. 
  • Experience in warehousing, port operations, logistics, processing or general hands-on tasks is desirable.
  • TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials allow access to US Ports) preferred. If working in a location where TWIC is required, candidates must be able to pass the background and security requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role including lifting up to 50lbs, walking, standing, reaching, bending, climbing, sampling and driving.
  • Must have a valid and clean Driving Licence.
  • Must have a personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments (expenses will be reimbursed).
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Travel / Rotation Requirements 

  • Willing to work flexible hours (weekends and long days as needed).
  • Main work site is based in Fredericktown, Missouri. There may be exceptional occasions for additional assignments at other locations (including overnight stays as needed).

BENEFITS

  • 401K. You can elect to make pre-tax contributions of between 1% to 84% of eligible earnings. The company contributes 3% of salary per annum. 
  • Medical. Yourself only - fully Company funded (dependents coverage is available at the employee’s cost).
  • Dental. Yourself and dependents - fully Company funded.
  • Life Insurance. $80,000 total (as long as you are employed by AHK).
  • Disability Insurance. Long-term disability insurance is available at low cost to employees.
  • Vision. Vision insurance is available at low cost for employees and dependents which is paid through payroll draft.
  • AFLAC. Several supplemental programs are available to employees at their own cost.
