JOB PURPOSE:
Oversees the health and nutrition components of Head Start/Early Head Start, handles safety and illness prevention, and provides expert advice on health, nutrition and safety matters. Oversees, manages, plans, monitors, analyzes, and responds to health and nutrition services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing Head Start and other preschool programs. Provides communication, guidance, and utilizes data to inform procedural practice and cross-service area reflective supervision to identify gaps in record keeping, data entry and monitoring systems and create strategies to address. Supports health/nutrition innovation and serves as the content area expert for the Health and Nutrition service area components.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the key management person responsible for Head Start and Early Head Start’s mandatory health and nutrition components, this person performs a range of professional and supervisory duties related to health and nutrition, including: plans Early Childhood Education health/nutrition programs and oversees clinical services related to the health and nutrition service areas, including setting goals, directing staff and controlling budgets; evaluates and assesses health/nutrition program to ensure goals and standards are met; interacts with families and medical personnel to provide customer service by phone, email and in-person; prepares correspondence, reports, records and other paperwork; and ensures program databases and recordkeeping files related to health/nutrition are in order.
