CRAVEN COUNTY SCHOOLS EC BEHAVIOR SUPPORT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: EC Behavior Specialist REPORTS TO: EC DIRECTORS TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 1 MONTHS PAY GRADE: ADMIN l PAY RANGE: $3,833.34-$7,068.88 FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT Nature of Work To provide behavior support to students identified as having challenging behaviors. This would include students that experience sudden life changes that impact school; are high needs behavior students experiencing a transition (classroom or school level); have gone through the Behavior support Referral Process and had been identified as needing additional temporary support in order to implement specific aspect of their plans. Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Check/Monitor PRC 29 Students >progress
Monitor FBA/BIP
Consult with Teachers/Administration
Delegate duties to Behavior Techs
Gather data
Attend IEP meetings
Coordinate CPI trainings
Coordinate group name student enrollment exit
Consultation training for BIP's classroom management
Provide supervision for BSAs
Budget process for PRC 29
Crisis safety plans, day treatment transitions, advocacy, agency referrals
Respond to crisis
Planning/coordination for Group Home, DJJ, DSS, mental health students
Observations
Supervise Behavior Techs
In-service on behavior strategies
Monitor suspension data
Parent communication
Teacher support
Mental health high risk
Monitor Reports (w/restraints)
Manifestation meetings
Paraprofessional training
Grant Writing
Identifying/Implementing Behavior Interventions
Fidelity of implementation - monitor program
Provide direct services to student's w/ behavior support
Collaborate with community agencies
Parent training: surrogate parent training
Teach social, self-advocacy, anger management conflict resolution to students
Training staff on PBS, de-escalation
Serve as team member on multiple treatment teams
Monitor students' grades
Other duties as assigned
Ensure federal law compliance

Education and Experience:
Teaching certification in Special Education
Master's degree preferred but not required
7-10 years teaching experience
Extensive knowledge of IDEA and working students with disabilities.
Extensive knowledge of Exceptional Children Compliance Requirements
Physical Requirements Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Position will require the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing and the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Work will entail bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
