SUMMARY
The Market President is responsible for the overall direction and administration of programs and services provided by the Bank; ensures that all aspects of the Bank's activities obtain maximum profits commensurate with the best interest of shareholders, customers, employees, and the public. Reports to the President as the highest ranking official of the Bank’s market. All officers of the market report to the position of Market President. Provides the highest level of customer relations and service; and ensures compliance with Bank policies and procedures. The position of Market President is directly responsible for attaining all established Bank operational and financial goals. Performs supervisory duties of department staff, coordinates staff for coverage in all related areas of the market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Ensures that tasks, objectives and goals designated and approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors are fulfilled as directed.
2. Ensures the President is fully informed on the conditions and operations of the market and the important factors influencing operations and decisions made by members of senior management; attends all meetings of the Market Presidents.
3. Plans, formulates, and recommends for the approval of the President, programs that will further the tasks, objectives and goals of the Bank.
4. Develops an annual budget and monitors this in conjunction with the President.
5. Supervises and works closely with all officers to develop short and long-term plans and programs for the Bank.
6. Recommends annual program goals to the President; ensures an ongoing evaluation system is in place related to such goals and that reports of progress are provided to the President on a regular basis.
7. Executes all decisions of the President except when other assignment is specifically made by the Executive Management.
8. Executes such contracts, grants and commitments as may be authorized by the President or by established policies.
9. Plans, organizes, and directs programs and services; evaluates results and recommends policies, procedures, and action to achieve program goals.
10. Serves on all market committees as required.
11. Engages in business development activities through a network of contacts developed.
12. Provides guidance on matters of program, publications, budget and legal responsibility.
13. Supervises the secretarial function, maintaining official minutes of market area official meetings; provides security for all files, legal and historic documents, mailing lists, and client files.
14. Responsible for compliance with all applicable banking laws and regulations.
15. Represents the market in community, civic, and community reinvestment functions.
16. Manages reputation of Bank in the community by protecting shareholders’ investment in the community and alerts President and/or CEO if the situation dictates.
17. Oversees physical aspect of bank locations including appearance and signage and alerts proper personnel if issue noted.
18. Directs, monitors, and appraises the performance of all officers of the market and provides the necessary coordination between activities.
19. Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person, and exhibits the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.
20. Provides supervision and support to all areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; oversees activities of assigned department personnel; opens and closes the department.
21. Monitors staff in daily tasks, operations and quality control; ensures the organization of assigned areas of the department, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
22. Consistently applies superior decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
23. Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for the President, audits and other personnel.
24. Plays a positive role in the development and growth of assigned department staff through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
25. Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of the market including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.
26. Processes, solves and answers complex customer transactions, problems or inquiries.
27. Answers telephones, answers questions and directs callers to proper market personnel.
28. Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
29. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.
The position of Market President performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of Market President is responsible for the supervision of fifteen or more employees, and normally carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's policies and applicable laws, ensuring adherence to EEO guidelines.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 20 % of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 40 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, smart phone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, laptop computer, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other equipment as directed.
