Parks & Recreation Aide Job description

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is hiring Park and Recreation Aides for Beaverkill Campground in Roscoe, New York.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Preference may be given to candidates 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Job Duties:

  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts.
  • Must be punctual, reporting for work on time.
  • Should expect to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment.
  • Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, and cleaning comfort stations, rest rooms and buildings. Extra physical work may be required such as aiding in removing brush and firewood and/or moving canoes and rowboats.
  • Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.
  • Must be well groomed, wear appropriate attire, including work shoes/close toed shoes. Issued clothing must be kept clean and worn while on duty.
  • Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public and able to provide patrons with information regarding park facilities and use.
  • If assigned to booth: Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue Reports. Must be capable of operating a personal computer.
