Job Title : Dispatcher / Medical Communication Specialist

As a Dispatcher / Medical Communication Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in coordinating and dispatching resources to meet the needs of our clients and patients.

Position Overview : We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Dispatcher / Medical Communication Specialist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving requests for medical transportation, accurately entering transport information into our system, and determining the appropriate level of response.

Additionally, you will deploy the most suitable field resources to fulfill each request promptly and effectively.

Essential Functions :

The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to :

  • Operate CAD equipment
  • Knowledge of Insurance and Requirements
  • Ability to quote correct prices for private pay transports
  • Ability to understand, differentiate and accurately capture SCT transports
  • Ability to understand, differentiate and accurately capture ALS 1 transports
  • Ability to understand, differentiate and accurately capture ALS 2 transports
  • Perform dispatch, radio communications
  • Determine the nature and location of each call and make calculated decisions based on these calls
  • Monitor and coordinate the movement of vehicles throughout the system by operating the radio console to maintain priority and non-routine communications
  • Maintain the status of all Legacy vehicles and personnel at all times
  • Receives telephone or radio reports
  • Receive and record accurate information
  • Receives incoming phone calls
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by your Supervisor or Administration
  • Maintain HIPPA compliance in all aspects of MedComm
  • Required to keep the dispatch area neat and tidy
  • Required to be professional in all aspects of their duties including appearance and dialogue
  • Required to communicate well with all Medics and other Dispatchers
  • Know all facility standards for emergency and non-emergency or para-transit transports
  • Know the guidelines, protocols, policies, etc. that Legacy has put in to place for all Legacy employees
  • Other duties as advised

Qualifications :

High School Diploma or GED (required)

AHA Healthcare Provider Certification (required within 3 months of hire)

Knowledge of Medical Terminology (preferred)

Computer Literate (required)

Radio Literate (preferred)

Ability to interpret computer generated maps (required)

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as street maps, instructions, or procedure manuals (required)

Ability to speak effectively (required)

Able to exhibit critical thinking skills (required)
