Buyer/Planner

Executes MPS and MRP, buys the appropriate levels of materials and creates a production schedule that minimizes costs while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Buyer/Planner

·Responsible for executing DRP, MPS, MRP, & CRP to generate demand as needed.

·Develop and communicate weekly production schedules for all assigned work centers.

·Develop monthly capacity plan for critical work centers & communicate weekly with Manufacturing.

·Develop and maintain appropriate inventory levels (weeks on hand & dollars) by reviewing safety stock levels, lead time levels and economic order quantities on a periodic basis to support customer demand.

·Maintain item master data in ERP system.

·Handle ADS requirements for specials, including proper documentation, quoting, ordering, and receiving.

·Work with engineering to understand products to communicate with the suppliers, answer basic supplier/customer service questions, and understand when requests are out of the norm that may need engineering review.

·Ensure customer satisfaction by managing daily orders vs. inventory, and reporting missed shipments. Work with Warehouse Team to reduce missed shipments to our customers and meet requirements on sales orders, stocking agreements, and blanket orders. Communicate with customer service in a timely manner to provide updates regarding impacts to customer orders.

·Manage supplier communications including PO placement, confirmations, shipping method, expedite requests, cost accuracy, quality issues, and invoice discrepancies.

·Maintain supplier data utilizing SalesForce and all applicable fields in E1.

·Recommend improvement ideas to reduce operational costs and/or improve customer satisfaction. Participate on Team to achieve desired improvements.

·Achieve customer service levels, net working capital, and inventory targets.

·Perform ad hoc analyses as required.

Senior Buyer/Planner – In addition to all Buyer/Planner responsibilities

·Take on projects that require advanced knowledge of inventory and production management where cost/benefit analysis is required.

·Have in-depth process and system knowledge which allows them to complete analysis, design supply systems, and participate in system upgrades as a SME.

·Balance load on work centers and work with the production management team to appropriately utilize labor resources. 

·Generate material usage and spend forecasts.

·Actively pursue cost savings opportunities on all purchased items, including negotiation with suppliers. Analyze best buying practices to reduce purchase cost while maintaining inventory goals.

·Meet with key suppliers to negotiate and manage terms, contracts, and service level of suppliers. Generate supplier scorecards and meet with key suppliers.

·Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities.

·Perform “what-if” inventory and capacity scenarios as required by business.

·Support Product Management and Purchasing Manager with annual budgeting process.

·Lead and/or participate in World Class Improvement Projects (lean, Six Sigma, leadership development, associate development, etc.), and Kaizen events.

·Comply with all established ISO procedures and make recommendations for improvements.

·Evaluate suppliers for best fit partnership with Fenner including quality, price, delivery, service, and technical support. Manage SPAP process to qualify any new suppliers or materials.

·Develop and report on key business metrics.

·Mentor & train supply chain associates and continually motivate/challenge team to improve.

·Support Merger and acquisition activities.

Education and/or Relative Experience:(The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)

·Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·APICS (CPIM) Certification
