The Part Time Criminal Investigations Assistant is eligible to receive a top of market compensation and a generous schedule of paid time off (PTO).

• Hourly pay starts at$27.3971/hr

Position Summary

The Part Time Criminal Investigations Assistant is an integral part of the Sterling Heights Police Department’s mission to provide quality, professional service to the community of Sterling Heights. The Criminal Investigations Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to transport evidence items to the crime lab for analysis/examination and ensure the chain of custody is maintained properly. Working with the Police Evidence Technicians in the Police Lab, this position is responsible for the operation of professional equipment involved in the development, enlargements, processing, and finishing printing of all photographs, and is also responsible for fingerprinting and photography of prisoners. Call-ins should be expected during off-duty hours but are infrequent.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Prior law enforcement experience is highly preferred.
• Minimum three years of full-time professional work experience in a law enforcement agency operating equipment involved in the development, enlargements, processing, and finished photos
• Ability to view and process forensic photographs which may be disturbing in nature.
