Title: Summer Food Service DirectorCOA Site: Camp Helen Brachman, 9341 Asbury Drive, Almond, WI 54909 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Earnings: $18 - $22 per hour based on experience Timeframe: June 6th - August 22nd, 2024. Our camp programs provide opportunities for underserved youth to enjoy a rural habitat, enjoy and learn about nature, try new adventures, and learn new skills. Camp Helen Brachman is a piece of the good. This position directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, personnel training, personnel management, customer service, and record keeping. It is a full-time (40 hours per week), summer-only position. Note that housing on camp property and meals are provided as part of the full time compensation package. Adjustment to part-time hours is acceptable to fill the position. Main Job Responsibilities
Perform all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines and standards (local, state, federal, and American Camp Association).
Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service.
Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities.
Supervise kitchen employees.
Model appropriate behavior at all times.
Qualifications
Highly preferred: at least 21 years old (prior to the start of camp) with valid US driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
Experience in institutional/large food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment
Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices
Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods and food allergy safety.
Current Serv Safe, First aid and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain prior to summer)
Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently
Experience in supervision
Good organizational skills, positive attitude, and cultural competency
Flexible and works well under pressure
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid - Must be able to provide leadership and assist families and staff in an emergency
The physical requirements for this position are the ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time and lift at least 50 pounds
The work environment is a kitchen which includes exposure to heat and chemicals from ovens, stoves, dishwasher, etc.
