Amae Health is seeking a Primary Care Physician or Nurse Practitioner. This position requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per month. Please note this position is on site at our North Carolina clinic in Raleigh (27609).

About the Job

Amae Health is currently seeking a compassionate Primary Care Physician or Nurse Practitioner to work with our Integrated Care Team. In this role, you will provide holistic primary care services to Amae’s patients with severe mental illness. This position will report directly to the Senior Clinical Director and will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, therapists, peers, and a health coach, to ensure that our members receive the highest level of care possible. This primary care role is designed to integrate with and support the mental health treatment our members receive at Amae.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments, diagnose medical conditions, and manage acute and chronic illnesses while considering their impact on mental health.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring safe and effective use, while considering potential interactions with psychiatric medications.
  • Perform routine physical examinations and preventive health screenings, integrating the findings with mental health care plans.
  • Educate members on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions, emphasizing the connection between physical and mental well-being.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records and documentation that integrate with mental health care plans.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and attend regular team meetings to review and discuss patient care, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Uphold Amae Health's commitment to providing compassionate, holistic, and culturally sensitive care.
  • Adhere to all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards.

About You

  • Medical Degree (MD, DO, or NP) from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in North Carolina.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related primary care specialty.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and embrace a whole-person care approach.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the organization and our members.
  • Preferred experience in primary care for patients with severe mental illness.
  • Preferred experience in whole-person, holistic, integrated care.
