Elite Wellness Performance and Recovery is a fast-growing company based in Ashburn, VA. We are a team of experienced and educated individuals who are passionate about helping people reach optimal health. We are looking for a Sports Performance Coach / Injury Recovery Specialist to help us continue to grow and help us achieve our mission of becoming the best performance-based wellness centers in the area. We are looking for a person who can ideally do multiple positions (front desk, targeted sports recovery, fitness training). There is a sliding pay scale with plenty of incentives and room for growth.

Job Description: Fitness Specialist

Position Overview:

The Fitness Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing athletes' physical, mental, and technical abilities. They collaborate with athletes, coaches, and other sports professionals to optimize performance, prevent injuries, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires a deep understanding of sports physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and nutrition, along with excellent communication and motivational skills.

Role Description

The Fitness Specialist position at Elite Wellness is a part-time role and requires an on-site presence in Ashburn, VA. As a Kinesiology Staff Member, you will be responsible for assisting with performance and fitness training, providing sports-specific training, and supporting recovery treatments. You will also have front desk shifts where you will assist with recovery services, offer recommendations to clients, scheduling, and more. Your day-to-day tasks will involve working closely with clients to create personalized training programs, conducting fitness assessments, providing instruction and guidance during training sessions, and assisting with recovery treatments. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and contribute to the overall success of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development:
  • Create individualized training programs tailored to athletes' needs, goals, and sport-specific requirements.
  • Incorporate periodization principles to ensure athletes peak at the right times during their competitive seasons.
  • Integrate strength training, conditioning, speed/agility work, flexibility, and recovery strategies into training plans.
  • Training Implementation:
  • Conduct training sessions that focus on improving athletes' physical attributes, such as strength, endurance, speed, and agility.
  • Oversee proper technique and form during exercises to minimize injury risk.
  • Utilize innovative training methods and technology to enhance performance and track progress.
  • Performance Assessment:
  • Regularly assess athletes' physical capabilities and track their progress over time.
  • Analyze performance metrics and adjust training plans accordingly to optimize results.
  • Collaborate with sports scientists and medical professionals to conduct physiological and biomechanical assessments.
  • Injury Prevention:
  • Identify potential injury risks and develop strategies to mitigate them through targeted exercises and corrective actions.
  • Educate athletes on proper warm-up routines, cool-down techniques, and injury prevention protocols.
  • Nutrition and Recovery:
  • Provide guidance on proper nutrition and hydration to support athletes' training and performance goals.
  • Advise athletes on effective recovery strategies, including sleep, nutrition, and soft tissue therapies.
  • Mental Conditioning:
  • Collaborate with sports psychologists to implement mental conditioning techniques, including visualization, goal-setting, and stress management.
  • Help athletes develop mental resilience, focus, and confidence to excel under pressure.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with athletes, coaches, medical staff, and other support personnel to ensure a holistic approach to performance enhancement.
  • Provide clear and regular communication about training progress, adjustments, and strategies.
  • Education and Professional Development:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in sports science, training methodologies, and technology.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars to continuously improve coaching skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Sports Performance Coach, or similar.
  • Previous experience working as a sports performance coach or similar role, preferably with athletes at various levels.
  • Strong understanding of sports physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and psychology.
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt training plans to various sports and individual athlete needs.
  • Proficiency in using technology for performance tracking and analysis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
