** Job description**

**Carpenters** perform or assist with the performance of the following: construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood or wood substitute items such as concrete forms, bracing, scaffolding, panels, decks, falsework, as well as various other tasks. Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, or plans to be fabricated. Must be able to layout accurately.

**Laborers** perform tasks involving physical labor at construction projects, shop, yard and demolition sites including clean up, excavation spotter, shovel work, concrete placing, demolition, strong back jobs, walk behind compaction, shag mate, and other tasks as assigned. Laborers operate hand and power tools of all types including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. Cleans and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials. Assists other craft workers as needed.

** Requirements**

**Carpenters** must be able to safely operate power tools including a saw, grinder, roto hammer, power drill, Hilti gun, chain and cable jacks, burning torch, impact wrench, and table saw. Must be able to install various concrete form ties and accessories. Must be able to shape, cut, drill, handle and erect heavy treated timber caps, clamps, stringers, decking, etc. Carpenters must have a working knowledge of rigging to properly move and place heavy loads with crane assistance or other special lifting devices .

**Laborers** must be capable of working long hours when required and may also be required to lift up to eighty pounds. A Laborer must be able to walk, climb, bend, twist, turn, stoop, kneel, and work in cramped or awkward positions, all day long with or without accommodations.
