We are seeking an experienced Burner/Beveller to join our team in east Houston. The Burner/Beveller reports to the Processing Supervisor and operates a portable track torch cutting machine with an oxy-fuel torch to produce parts in the manufacturing warehouses.
Responsibilities:

• Sets up track and portable cutting machine for production runs
• Lays out plate to perform bevel cutting
• Ensures the machine has the necessary consumables
• Monitors machinery for any problems during the production run and adjusts the program to correct the problem
• Ensures that product meets specifications and verifies quality
• Instructs material handler on what material to load and unload and how to load the table to maximize productivity
• Checks material for grade, thickness, and size per the production documentation
• Reads prints, determines tolerances, and checks parts against prints to ensure the quality of parts being cut and makes appropriate adjustments to the processes, such as travel speed, tip size, tip replacement, gas pressures, kerf compensation, torch height, and other factors as needed to produce the desired quality
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly operator preventive maintenance
• Communicates problems with the machine or other equipment to the lead man, supervisor, or maintenance to ensure problem resolution
• Uses and understands measuring instruments, including tape measure, level, protractor, and micrometer
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience as a Beveller operating plasma or oxy-fuel equipment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Must be proficient at operating a Messer or Kinetic burning machine
• Must understand computer controls and logic to adjust cutting speeds/pressure gauges
• Strong math aptitude and ability to accurately utilize measuring instruments such as measuring tape and caliper
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver objects; difficult objects will be lifted with mechanical means or additional manpower.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
• Must wear safety PPE, such as a hard hat, glasses, steel-toe boots, and gloves, when handling material.
