McLaughlin Research Corp is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Newport, RI
McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking a Facilities/Safety Technician who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry work, and plumbing repairs
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve issues related to HVAC, electrical systems, and other building components
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders and maintenance activities
- Supervise external contractors during facility repairs or installations
- Read and interpret electrical schematics for troubleshooting and repair purposes
- Welding tasks as needed for facility repairs
- Provide leadership in coordinating maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Troubleshoot and repair logic controllers as part of the facility's automation systems
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with internal stakeholders
Requirements:
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance and repair
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including the ability to read schematics
- Welding skills for metalwork repairs
- Strong leadership skills to supervise maintenance tasks effectively
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair logic controllers for automation systems
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with various departments within the organization
- Proficiency in English for effective communication within the team
