Apply DescriptionJOB TITLE: Sports Lead REPORTS TO: Sports Director FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt Position DescriptionAssist Program Director in the implementation/supervision of programs; through creation of flyers, rosters, project timelines, communicating changes in program offerings to members and staff. The job consists of working with employees of various departments, volunteers, and program participants. The position is mostly nights and weekends, during Youth Sports Programming. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Be the lead sports liaison for the program
Help set up gym and sports facilities for all YMCA Youth Sports Programming
Arrive prior to start of scheduled games, youth sports programming and stay late as needed.
Maintain Equipment and Maintenance Standards for Youth Sports
Assist Director in gym schedule, staff relations and staff job duties for Rockwell Plaza and Bethany YMCA gym
Help Director with roster building, securing volunteer coaches, coach check-in calls, and any miscellaneous programming duties required.
Ensure that the YMCA Pledge is being said prior to the start of each game by all officials
Communicate problems and concerns following the chain of command, shared by the participants to program director in charge of sports
Must be able to relate to all program participants in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner
Have confidence needed to enforce YMCA rules utilized to carry out the program
Ability to address and respond to any actions that are not in line with the YMCA mission or philosophy
Must provide the safest possible environment by helping to organize and maintain the program area including any and all YMCA equipment used by program participants
Report any and all incidents to Sports Director
Responsible for carrying out approved emergency action plans in the event of an emergency
Be impartial and fair in your duties as an official, gym monitor and sports lead
As appropriate, help players learn the game
Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, participants and volunteers
Accept responsibility of association wide sports program as needed
Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers
Evenings and weekends work.
Perform other duties as assigned
Candidate must have reliable transportation.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be 18 or older
Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
Must complete officials training.
Must complete all required Redwoods Trainings within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
Incumbent must have working knowledge of the sport to be supervised with an understanding of the Y mission in sports and how that mission is carried out using the Y’s Core Values.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Incumbent must have the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time, lifting up to 75 lbs.
