Vie Del is Hiring a Maintenance Stockroom Clerk Near Fresno, CA

Vie-Del is a major producer of concentrates from grapes and other fruits, brandy, spirits, and wines. We are currently seeking talented candidates to join the Vie-Del Family. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit package in an employee friendly and rewarding environment.
SUMMARY: The Maintenance Stockroom Clerk with limited supervision from the Plant Engineer for daily assignments. The duties for this position pertain to more than one functional area; and while performing those duties, this person will report to the party that has supervisory responsibility for that functional area.
DUTIES:I. PLANT MAINTENANCE AND STOCK ROOM
  • Ordering, Requisition material/parts/supplies needed by Maintenance Departments of both Plants
  • Receiving goods
    • Verify received goods match the purchase order – quantities, part numbers, weight, materials of construction, etc
    • Sign for deliveries
    • Inspect components
    • Check for possible freight damage
    • Confirm dimensions on received items manufactured to Vie-Del Drawings
  • Label part with what the part pertains to, such as equipment number or Work Order number
  • Issue parts into inventory
  • Forward packing slips to Accounting
  • Initiate warranty parts replacements or return authorization requests, as needed
  • For “Rush” or first time parts requisitions, research/create specifications, source the part, and obtain (3) bids, if possible. If part will become a recurring item, then assign new Item Number in MP2.
  • Follow-up on status of ordered items
  • Inventory control, periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventory count of Maintenance parts. Report results to Accounting. Resolve and reduce variances
  • Enforce Issue-out/Issue-in procedures. Maintenance personnel are required to sign-out for needed parts and sign-in unused parts returned back into inventory
  • Organize and stock shelves
  • Label stock bins, locations and drums, by inventory Item Number and equipment it pertains to
  • Maintain required quantity of needed spare parts
  • Update asset/equipment history spreadsheet, as repairs are made or equipment acquired or obsolete
  • Restore spare equipment to usable condition: Replace parts removed from spare equipment, or arrange for non-functioning equipment to be repaired
  • Maintain tool registry log book, of tools issued-out to maintenance personnel
  • Maintain files
    • Verify equipment file folders contain operating manuals, parts lists, exploded view diagrams, and disassembly/reassembly instructions. Obtain missing documents and insert new documents, as needed
    • Create new file folders for newly acquired equipment
    • File Pink copies of Purchase Orders
    • File copies of Requisitions, as needed
  • Maintain parts areas clean and organized
  • Work with maintenance to assess problems with forklift, vehicles and mobile equipment to determine whether repair to be performed by Maintenance or to issue Requisition for repair by service contractor.
  • Work with Maintenance Foreman, to schedule and plan plant maintenance work based upon issues identified by production or mechanics performing routine daily/monthly equipment checks, i.e. squeals, vibration, leaks, low oil levels, etc. Ensure we have the parts on hand before maintenance personnel start working on a system. If parts are not in stock, work with the Maintenance Foreman to order the required parts
  • Initiate and schedule PM work to be done on equipment based upon manufacturers’ recommendations, i.e. ammonia compressor overhauls based upon number of hours of operation
  • Weekly inventory status of the ammonia bottles for the boiler SCR systems and boiler/cooling tower chemicals
  • Monitor other compressed gas bottles for excess inventory, low turnover or seasonal usage items
  • Route mail for Maintenance Department
  • Pickup/drop-off parcels at Front Office/Lab
  • Package, weigh, and write Bill of Lading for outbound parts shipments
  • Monitor scrap metal dumpsters and metal recycling program
  • Monitor maintenance fluids area and waste oil area for regulatory, safety and sanitation compliance
  • Operate vehicles or drop-off/pickup parts/supplies, as directed
  • Operate forklift, as directed
II. GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Administrative support for Plant Engineer
    • Work with Engineering developing project scopes & Budgets.
    • Write component specifications
    • Create manuals for projects and store on the M drive
    • Meet vendors to direct repairs or obtain quotes
    • Research OEM manuals for maintenance items and save on M drive, i.e. Shand & Jurs calibration procedures
  • Verify ordered services or repairs were performed to specification
  • Perform certain audits (below), and maintain compliance checklists/logs. Interpret the checklists/logs for excursions (high discharge temperatures, etc.), trends (greater oil consumption, etc.), and for non-compliance. Initiate coordinated action, on issues/deviations identified in the checklists/logs
    • OSHA safety compliance. Audit the shop equipment, grinder guards, etc
    • Confined Space Permits. Issue & maintain records
    • Hot Work Permits. Issue & maintain records
    • RMP compliance. Review the ammonia/SO2 daily/weekly/monthly/annual checklists for issues. Create new log books at the end of each year for the next year
    • Coordinate with Purchasing, to resolve issues identified in the Halogen leak quarterly inspections
    • Hazardous Waste compliance. Labeling of drums, proper waste storage, etc
    • Air District Permit compliance. Audit the boiler start-up/shutdown logs and the boiler water chemistry logs (by the Boiler Operators)
  • Document service performed, such as adding oil on ammonia compressors
  • Learn more about maintenance records and record keeping methods at Plant 2
  • Inspect Vie-Del fall restraint safety harnesses
  • Instruct, teach and test forklift training
  • Respirator fit testing

  • Education and/or Experience
High School diploma, or equivalency, and 3 years basic experience in a related field. Ability to improve accuracy and performance of inventory systems and utilize inventory software. Fluent in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, ratios, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Class “C” Driver’s License required and driving record acceptable to the company.
