POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinate staff, activities and supplies for KidZone. Supervises KidZone Attendants. Provides supervision, nurturing care and fun activities for children in a wholesome, safe environment while their parents or grandparents are using the branch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Helps recruit and serves as primary trainer for all KidZone Attendants.
• Schedules KidZone Attendants. Serves as immediate contact for staff regarding schedule changes, illness, substitute shifts, etc.
• Directly supervises KidZone Attendants in daily duties. Communicates any attendance and/or performance issues to supervisor.
• Communicates any changes in KidZone policies, hours, etc. to staff, Engagement Director and other leadership staff.
• Approves timecards bi-weekly for payroll purposes.
• Maintains inventory of required forms, supplies, toys, etc. used in KidZone.
• Serves as a contact point for parents with questions and concerns.
• Creates a loving, safe environment for children. Supervises children in KidZone at all times.
• Organizes and participates in games, reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, handwork, songs, and similar activities.
• Maintains discipline in a positive and age-appropriate manner.
• Directs children in eating, resting, and toileting. Helps children remove outer garments. Helps children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.
• Ensures parents/caregivers complete all paperwork as required. Explains rules to parents and requires sign-in and sign-out for all children. Remains available for parent comments, questions and concerns.
• Ensures KidZone is clean and orderly when shift is complete. Cleans toys and supplies regularly to ensure a healthy environment. Removes broken or dangerous toys immediately.
• Adheres to YMCA dress code.
• Enforces YMCA rules and policies in a polite and positive manner.
• Finds substitutes for shifts when necessary and alerts supervisor of changes.
• Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required by Engagement Director.
• In case of an accident or injury, fills out an accident report form completely and returns to supervisor.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
• Keeps all certifications current.
• Maintains an up-to-date time card and reports in writing any issues to supervisor immediately.
• Reports any problems to immediate supervisor.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Christian mission of the YMCA and its values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Demonstrates a strong personal commitment to a lifestyle that promotes healthy spirit, mind and body. Serves as a role model for members, participants and children of this commitment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of KidZone Attendants. Responsibilities include recruitment of new hires; training employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
